Best place to register your .com – Is $1.99 a Bargain?
Ever tried to Google for “Domains”, if then you should have seen how many companies offering domain registration services. I guess the numbers are no less than good 5 digits. Anyways ever wondered how many are actually ICANN accredited. Not even 1% of them.
So when registering your valuable domain name it’s always better to go for an ICANN accredited register which provides a good service at comparative prices. Some places even offer .com free, but there is always a hitch attached with it, most places you get .com free if you host with them. In that case in most places you don’t own the domain, you lease it from them. That’s the truth. These complications only occur when you actually try to move to a different hosting provider or try to sell the domain name one day. Remember to read the small prints before accepting agreements which gives out free domains with hosting.
Mmm…. no point spending time talking about small places. Let’s talk about giant Yahoo!! One of the most famous
Yahoo is offering .com registrations at $1.99. Great Bargain!! Just love it!! But that’s until you read the details page which hardly anyone would care to read.
Here is what I got from the yahoo website itself. It says after the term expire its 34.95/year, which is bit worrying. May be you can transfer your domain to another register after the term but it’s a hassle.
“1-year term: $1.99 (special discount for new customers only)
2-year term: $11.94 ($1.99 for your first year, $9.95 for your second year)
3-year term: $21.89 ($1.99 for your first year, $9.95 for your next two years)
5-year term: $41.79 ($1.99 for your first year, $9.95 for your next four years)
After term expires: $34.95/year (only annual terms available after initial term expires)”
Why pay $35 when you can get .com registrations for less than $10 at other places. Godaddy.com can be recommended for any starter and their prices are quite competitive and they are a well known brand. Use Zine3 as the promo code at GoDaddy to get .com registrations for $6.95 which is a 30% discount over the standard pricing of $9.99.
If you haven’t got a credit card GoDaddy might be a bit of a trouble. Name.com accepts unverified paypal accounts. Offers .com registrations at $7.99
If you are paying with MoneyBookers then DynaDot.com can be recommended, but their prices are bit to the high side which is $9.25. If you are into registering .com IDN domains there is a limited time pricing of $6.50 at DynaDot.
Moniker.com, NameCheap.com is a couple out of other places which can be recommended.
If you ever thought of having your own domain registration company and join the crowd of thousands of domain registrars, then ResellerClub.com is the place to go for. No setup fees and the prices are really competitive. So far this is the best domain reseller program I can recommend unless you got a big capital to invest.

Just register the domain for 1 year @ $1.99 and then transfer it out to another Registrar during that period. It helps to take advantage of this initial low pricing.
